ITOCHU's Chemicals Division is comprised of 5 departments, Organic Chemicals No.1, Organic Chemicals No.2, Inorganic Chemicals, Plastic and Retail & Plastic Materials, handling a variety of products ranging from basic chemicals to fine, specialty chemicals to offer high quality services for industrial applications and individual consumers. The Division includes 13 subsidiary/affiliate companies in Japan and 22 major joint venture companies throughout the world. The division's 25 representative offices around the world wide allowed for an integration of business opportunities in all developing and scope for new project arising from these opportunities.

Expanding Business Relations & Project Operation

ITOCHU Australia Chemical & Plastic Division covers both trading and project areas.

The former focuses on expanding existing business relationship mainly in the engineering plastic and rubber materials, fine chemicals and basic chemicals as import, and also exporting inorganic natural resources from Australia. ITOCHU is also handing solar salt from Dampier Salt Ltd, whose sale mines are located at Dampier lake Macleod and Port Hedland, producing a total salt volume of approx. 8.million tones per year. Exporting to South East Asia & Japan for use in Chlor-alkali industries. The Chemical Division is also exporting new raw materials/minerals for future application in IT industries and other filed.

We are pre-marketing of Methanol for Oceanic market. 850KMT/PA new plant will be started from 1Q 2010 at Brunei.

According to our environmentally-friendly policies, ITOCHU AUSTRALIA imports a variety of fine chemicals from Japan as well as from Australia for many industries. Our mission is to improve "Quality of Life" through importing/exporting chemicals and plastics.

The latter concentrates on creating/developing inorganic resources project in Australia. There is a project which has been considered to support for areas of glass manufacturing, new energy field and IT industries in Asia-Pacific regions. The project will expand ITOCHU’s function in sourcing and supplying mineral resources in the next decades.

In both areas, Chemical division is greatly supported by extensive knowledge and experience in the chemical industry to serve the needs of the market.
